Austin IV Questions, Answered
Everything people ask us about mobile IV therapy in Austin, from the video visit to what happens once your nurse arrives. The long version is below.
The Video Visit
Why is there a video visit before my IV?
Texas has its own law for elective IV therapy. At The Drip Lab Austin, every first drip starts with a short video visit with a licensed provider, who reviews your health history and approves your drip. Your nurse then gives what the provider approved.
How much is the video visit, and how does it work?
It's $26.99. After you book, we text you a link. Open it on your phone and meet the provider by video. Do it as soon as the link arrives, because your nurse can't start your IV until the provider approves it.
Do I need a video visit every time?
No. Returning guests redo it only when it expires after a year, when their health history changes (like a new medication or a new diagnosis), or when they want a drip their last visit didn't cover.
Can I change my drip once my nurse is here?
Tell your nurse what you'd like. A different drip or an add-on needs the provider's approval before your nurse can give it, so it's easiest to choose everything when you book.
How late can I do the video visit?
Video visits need to wrap up by 9 PM, and online booking closes at 9 PM.
Prices and Fees
How much does a drip cost?
Drips run $185 to $450 per person: The Baseline $185, The Myers Cocktail $250, The Flush $275, The Immunity $300, The Hangover Reset $375, and The Hype $450. NAD+ can be added to any drip at $0.75 per mg, so 250 mg is $188. The menu has the details.
What other fees can there be?
The $26.99 video visit comes before your first drip. Beyond that, two fees can apply: $50 for visits that start after 10 PM and $75 to set up a group of five or more.
Do you take insurance?
No. IV therapy here is an elective service that you pay for yourself.
Do groups get a discount?
Yes. When five or more people get drips at one address, drips are 10% off at five people, 15% off at seven, and 20% off at ten or more. Groups of five or more also have a $75 setup fee. Call or text (512) 765-3335 to book a group.
Where and When
Where in Austin do your nurses go?
All over central Austin, including Downtown, Rainey Street, South Congress, East Austin, Mueller, Hyde Park, Clarksville, and the Domain. Travel within 15 miles of downtown is included. The service area page has the full list.
What are your hours?
Every day, 8 AM to 10 PM. A visit that starts after 10 PM can sometimes be arranged for a $50 after-hours fee.
How soon can a nurse get to me?
It depends on the day and where you are. Same-day visits work when a nurse is free. For ACL, SXSW, and race weekend at COTA, book a few days ahead.
Can you come to my hotel or rental?
Yes. Hotel rooms, short-term rentals, homes, offices, and private events all work. Let the front desk know you're expecting a visitor, and send us any gate code or parking details.
How do I book?
Book online from our booking page, or call or text (512) 765-3335 any day from 8 AM to 10 PM.
Your Visit
Who starts my IV?
A licensed registered nurse. Your nurse checks your ID and vitals, confirms the drip the provider approved, starts the IV, and stays with you until it's done.
How long does a drip take?
Plan on about an hour for most drips, about 75 minutes for The Hangover Reset, and about 90 minutes for The Hype. Bigger NAD+ add-ons add more time.
Does it hurt?
You'll feel a quick pinch when the IV goes in. After that, most people scroll their phone, take a call, or nap.
Who shouldn't get a drip?
That's what the video visit and your nurse's check are for. Tell them about pregnancy, heart, kidney, or liver disease, allergies, and any medications. You need to be 18 or older with a photo ID. If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, or feel faint, call 911 instead.
Is an IV a replacement for seeing a doctor?
No. Our drips support hydration and normal nutrient levels. They aren't a treatment for illness. If you're sick or something feels wrong, see a doctor.
